Land development is the only work we do.
Bailey Engineering partners with experienced developers shaping some of the fastest-growing communities in the Treasure Valley. Our projects are visible, long-term, and consequential — neighborhoods people will live in for decades.
We are structured, process-driven, and deadline-focused. Our developer clients expect clarity and execution — and we deliver both. The same is true inside the firm: clean books, clean processes, and a finance and operations function that runs without drama.
We are seeking a Bookkeeper / Office Manager who treats the back office the way our engineers treat plan sets — with care, accuracy, and follow-through.
What you would own.
You would be the operational center of the firm — the person who keeps the finances clean and the office running. That includes:
- Day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks: AP, AR, deposits, reconciliations
- Client invoicing and project-based job costing
- Payroll processing and benefits administration
- Vendor management, subcontractor agreements, and insurance certificate tracking
- Monthly close, financial reporting, and prep for the firm's CPA
- Office logistics: supplies, software licenses, equipment, vendor relationships
- HR administration — onboarding paperwork, PTO tracking, basic compliance
- License and registration renewals (firm, professional, and corporate)
At Bailey, "Own It" means you know what is due, who depends on you, and you address issues early — professionally and directly.
How we operate.
We operate with structure and predictability. We solve problems directly and professionally. Our core values drive performance:
Continuous Improvement
We measure, refine, and strengthen how we deliver.
Own It!
We take responsibility for deadlines and outcomes.
Do the Math
We think before we draw.
We Not Me!
We collaborate above the line.
If you thrive in environments with clear expectations, professional standards, and accountability, you will thrive here.
What success looks like (first year).
- Clean monthly close, on time, with minimal CPA follow-up
- Timely client invoicing and improved AR aging
- Tight job-costing visibility for project managers and ownership
- Office systems documented and stewarded — not held in one person's head
- Payroll, benefits, and HR admin running predictably and quietly
- Trust earned with leadership as the operational anchor of the firm
Growth path.
This role is designed for long-term alignment. Depending on your strengths and ambition, growth may include:
- Office Manager → Operations Lead as the firm scales
- Ownership of HR systems, hiring administration, and policy
- Financial process improvement and reporting maturity
- Strategic firm influence on operations, vendors, and infrastructure
We are building intentionally — and we are interested in operators who think long term.
Qualifications.
- Three or more years of bookkeeping experience, ideally at a professional-services firm
- Strong QuickBooks proficiency (Online or Desktop)
- Working knowledge of AP, AR, payroll, and monthly close
- Experience with job costing or project-based accounting (A/E, construction, or similar) is a plus
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable owning deadlines without supervision
- Clear, professional communication with vendors, clients, and the team
- Discretion handling confidential financial and personnel information
Why this role, here.
- A focused firm — one practice area, clear priorities, no organizational sprawl
- Direct line to ownership and decision-making
- Real authority over how the back office runs
- Structured, accountable culture that values quiet, excellent work
- Long-term seat in a firm built to grow with the people in it
