How we handle your information.

A plain-language overview of what Bailey Engineering collects, what we don't, and what happens with the information you share.

Summary

Bailey's website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages visitors find useful. We do not use marketing pixels, behavioral profiling, or third-party advertising trackers. The only personal information we collect from you directly is what you voluntarily submit through the contact form.

What we collect from visitors

Through Google Analytics 4 (GA4): aggregate, anonymized data about how visitors use the site — pages viewed, time on page, traffic source (e.g., search engine vs. direct), approximate geographic region (city-level), device type, and which buttons or contact forms get clicked. GA4 anonymizes IP addresses by default and does not associate visits to individual identities.

Through the contact form: when you submit a form on the contact page, we collect the information you enter. Depending on the form type, this may include:

  • Email address (required)
  • Project type, timeline, and budget range
  • Message content
  • Company name and industry (IQ.Meet form)
  • Referral source

Forms are submitted through Web3Forms and delivered to [email protected] or [email protected] depending on the inquiry type.

What we don't collect

This site does not use:

  • Marketing or advertising pixels — no Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok Pixel, or retargeting trackers
  • Cross-site tracking — GA4 is configured to track on this domain only; no Google Signals, no advertising features enabled
  • Browser storage beyond GA4 cookies — no localStorage, sessionStorage, or IndexedDB used by Bailey's own code
  • Server-side logging of search queries — site search (Pagefind) runs entirely in the browser; no queries are sent to a server
  • Fingerprinting or behavioral profiling

Opting out of GA4: You can install Google's official GA Opt-out Browser Add-on, enable Do Not Track in your browser, or use a tracking-blocker extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, etc.). Any of these will prevent GA4 from receiving your visit data without affecting site functionality.

How we use contact form information

We use information submitted through the contact form only to respond to your inquiry. Depending on the topic you select:

Third parties that process website data

The website relies on a small number of third-party services:

  • Google Analytics 4 processes anonymized visitor analytics on Bailey's behalf. Data retention is set to the GA4 default (14 months). Google Privacy Policy
  • Web3Forms receives contact form submissions and forwards them to Bailey's inbox. Web3Forms privacy policy
  • Cloudflare serves as the website's CDN and DDoS protection layer. Cloudflare may log IP addresses and request metadata for security purposes. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
  • Google Fonts provides the typefaces used on the site. Google may log your IP address when fonts load. Google Fonts privacy FAQ
  • ZIG (botgui.de) provides licensed land-use data used on certain research articles. ZIG does not receive data about website visitors.
  • DigitalOcean hosts the website. The botgui.de team (Bailey's development partner) has access to server logs when needed for feature enhancement and quality control.

We do not share contact form information with third parties other than these operational services. We do not sell, rent, or share visitor data for marketing purposes.

Data retention

Contact form inquiries: Kept until the inquiry is responded to, or indefinitely until you request deletion.

Server logs: Retention is managed by DigitalOcean. Typical retention for hosting services is 30-90 days. See DigitalOcean's privacy policy for specifics.

This website privacy notice does not cover retention of client project records, which are governed by your engagement contract and by professional engineering records retention practices.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Contact us at [email protected].

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and our practices evolve. Material changes will be noted with a revision date at the top of this page.
